UNCOVERING OPPORTUNITY IN A RACE TO THE BOTTOM

Our scientists developed custom algorithms to help a transnational telecommunications client identify a new revenue stream and supercharge its competitive service advantage.

The Challenge

Battling commoditization of its services, endless price wars, and seeing competitors acquired by larger providers or going out of business, a telecommunications client came to Valkyrie to identify viable pivot strategies and new revenue opportunities. The purpose of this project was to equip our client with the tools and technical foundation needed to support ongoing experimentation for driving innovation for both internal and external initiatives.

The Solution

While the client company originally hypothesized that their data was not valuable, Valkyrie identified external data sets and combined those data with the company data. This new proprietary combined data set became a tremendous asset for insight generation. We also found patterns in the client data that highly correlated to similar patterns in currency valuation. Using the fluctuations in the company data, we were able to predict fluctuations in currencies with exceptional precision. By developing a knowledge graph of their network communication data we enabled them to identify high-value potential customers and markets matching target criteria. Our scientists used the latest in graph theory to radically transform market insight capabilities, identifying a new revenue stream and a method to boost core business sales.

The Outcome

The new knowledge graph Valkyrie developed proved invaluable to our client, yielding not only deeper insight into the needs and behavior of their customers, but an entirely new revenue stream with which to stabilize their portfolio.
